How the Chatbot Learns

Our chatbot features multiple dynamic learning mechanisms designed to expand its knowledge base directly from user interactions.

1. Interactive Questioning & Memory Storage

• Triggering Questions: The chatbot periodically asks questions selected at random. These occur more frequently when a user provides short answers.

• Saving Answers: When the bot asks a question, it stores that prompt in the current session. The user's next response is then saved to the database memory table, linking the bot's question and the user's answer into a new record.

• Wikipedia Integration: If the Google Natural Language API is enabled, the system automatically extracts key nouns from the conversation, fetches matching Wikipedia descriptions, and stores them in the same new database record.

2. Contextual Pronoun Transformation

The chatbot intelligently adjusts possessive pronouns so statements make sense from its own perspective.

• Example: If a user types, "Your name is Julie," the chatbot converts the phrase and remembers, "My name is Julie."

3. Manual Learning with the Star (*) Symbol

You can manually force the chatbot to memorize a specific sentence by including an asterisk (*) in your input.

Important Note on Using the * Symbol: Every 20 messages, the system collects keywords from the session and then clears the temporary cache. Using the * symbol forces the bot to save a new record immediately—even if no session keywords are currently stored. If a record is saved without keywords, the bot won't be able to retrieve or trigger that response later. When using the * symbol, ensure the session contains active keywords so the learned line can be used effectively!
